En Route is the first body of work I created between 2019 and 2021, during my third and fourth year at Tshwane University of Technology. It started with my daily commute - the kind of routine you stop thinking about until you start really looking.

The moments I captured felt insignificant at the time - people passing, streets blurring, light shifting. When placed together, they became something else. A quiet archive of the in-between.

It wasn’t just observation. I realised, somewhere in the process, that I was participating. A voyeur turned archivist. And through revisiting these scenes in paint, I began to give weight to the ordinary. What was fleeting then feels far more meaningful now.
